Shaun was very helpful and a pleasure to deal with. I asked for a quote online and was given a reasonable price for a replacement gearbox and clutch.
The car was collected and repaired in one day.

Just started using this shop to do some serious upgrades to my car. These were not your normal job. I was installing high performance coil overs, a hybrid turbo and an extra large custom intercooler. I had made the decision to use the money I would have spent on trading in, and instead improving my existing car for the long-term. I found Shaun, one of the partners of the business, was particularly good at working round difficulties where alternative parts sometimes don’t just drop into place. I was particularly impressed with that, and he likes to take time to get things right, as he prefers to do jobs in the way that he would like them done himself. Bear that in mind. If you just want parts throwing on without much care, then maybe you might find someone else who doesn’t care as much. Having said that, it’s swings & roundabouts because he’s not expensive on the hourly rate (+20%). On one of my jobs I decided to drop round in the evening just to see if my car was finished and he was working late into the evening to make sure he got it finished. As he said to me, “time is not elastic and I have other bookings to do, so if I have to stay up all night to finish this, then that’s what I will have to do”. Of course I was sweating at that thought, contemplating if several more hours would be ruinous to our household budget this month and whether we would have to turn heating off & eat less! I thought to myself that is a very interesting and dedicated way of dealing with things, but then it is right for the next person if you think about it, because they don’t want to be told I can’t get you in just yet as I promised. However, it does take a while to get booked in because as you can imagine with somebody as good as this he does get chocablock. Also bear in mind that things can take longer than you might imagine. But you get a job well done and he thinks outside the box, not a talky mouthy kind of “I am”, but a down to earth kind of guy that gets on with it. The mechanics are always gentle and they are always found the way to fit me in.
